Saturday 13 July was not only the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge, but also a junk modelling session was held in the library.  About 35 primary school children came to the drop in session and had a great time sticking, glueing, cutting and painting to produce some amazing models! The Summer Reading Challenge finishes on Saturday 7 September.  Another junk modelling session will be held on Saturday 14 August, no pre booking required.

We now have credit/debit card facilities available for payment at Bedale Community Library.  We have seen a substantial number of library customers who do not carry cash with them for payment and hope this will improve their library experience.  However, cash payments will still be taken and phone payment facilities will also be available.

On Monday 3 June the Trustees held their annual tea party to thank not only their Friends but also their Volunteers, as it was National Volunteers' Week.  Everyone enjoyed a delicious array of sandwiches, cakes and scones and it was a very happy event.  A guest from Library HQ in Northallerton said there was a real community feeling and that it was wonderful to see so many volunteers getting together to chat over tea and cake.

On Saturday 9 June, Bedale Community Library volunteers raised the grand total of £962.66 at the Bedale carboot sale on our designated fundraising day!  This is a huge boost to our funds and all donations were gratefully received.   A big thank you to everyone who helped on the day with collecting donations and clearing the park of any litter after the sale.                   ...

On Monday 12 February 2024, a refresher training session and lunch for current library volunteers was held with Jo and Laura from North Yorkshire Library Services, who both support us so much on a regular basis.  20 volunteers had a great morning catching up on a range of library related topics which regularly occur ranging from straightforward tasks to complicated photocopying exercises.  It was agreed that this should be an annual event.       &nb...
